Community Spotlight
Our Community Spotlight
Because caring for our community doesn't end at our doors.
We created this section of our website to recognize some of the organizations and causes we have had the privilege of supporting.
Rather than simply listing donations or sponsorships, we want to shine a light on the people behind these organizations and the difference they make in our communities.
Each Community Spotlight will share a little about an organization we have supported, why their work matters, and why we believe their contribution to our community deserves to be recognized.
This is not about the amount given. It is about the people, the purpose, and the difference that can be made when a community comes together.
A Community That Gives Back
We have always believed that the communities we serve are more than places on a map. They are made up of families, neighbours, volunteers, caregivers, coaches, first responders, health-care workers, teachers, churches, organizations, and countless individuals who give their time and energy to help others. We are proud to be among them.
To every organization that has allowed East Haven Funeral Home Inc. to support your work, thank you for the opportunity.
And to everyone who volunteers, organizes, fundraises, donates, sponsors, or simply shows up when your
community needs you —
thank you for everything you do.
This is our small way of saying that we see you, we appreciate you, and we are proud to stand alongside you.
Because caring for our community doesn't end at our doors.

Why We Support the Port aux Basques Lions Club
At East Haven Funeral Home Inc., we believe that supporting our community means standing behind the people and organizations who are there when their neighbors need them most. The Port aux Basques Lions Club has been doing exactly that for generations.
Through volunteerism, fundraising, community programs, and countless acts of service, the Lions have become an important part of life on the Southwest Coast. Their work reaches people of all ages, helping strengthen our community and providing support where it is needed most. Their longstanding commitment to service was recognized in 2025 when the club was honored by Lions Clubs International for its extraordinary response to Hurricane Fiona.
Lions Clubs International
When Fiona devastated our region, the Lions didn't wait to be asked what they could do. They stepped forward. They helped 150 families, operated a warming Centre, and became a central point for distributing food, clothing, personal-care supplies, and other necessities. Volunteers worked tirelessly alongside Lions from across Canada and members of our own community to help people through an incredibly difficult time.
It is neighbours helping neighbours. It is people giving their time without expecting anything in return. It is being willing to roll up your sleeves when someone needs a hand. That is why we are proud to support the Port aux Basques Lions Club. Their commitment reminds us that caring for our community isn't just about being there during the difficult moments. It's about helping build a stronger, more connected community every day.
To every Lion, past and present, who has volunteered their time, organized an event, raised funds, helped a neighbor, or simply answered the call when our community needed you:
Thank you. We are proud to stand alongside you.

At East Haven Funeral Home Inc., we believe that caring for our community extends far beyond the families we serve through our doors.
That is why we are proud to make an annual contribution to the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre Foundation — an organization whose work has a direct and lasting impact on the people and families of the Southwest Coast.
The Foundation plays an important role in helping provide essential medical equipment and supporting initiatives that enhance health care at our local Health Centre. Their fundraising helps ensure that our health-care professionals have access to the tools and resources they need to care for our families, friends, and neighbours, right here at home.
Health Care Close to Home
There are few things more important than knowing that when we or someone we love needs medical care, we have dedicated health-care professionals and essential services close to home.
As a funeral home, we have the privilege of walking alongside families through many of life's most difficult moments. We see firsthand how important compassionate health care is to the people we serve — and how deeply our local Health Centre is woven into the lives of our community.
Supporting the Foundation is one small way we can help strengthen that care for today and for generations to come.
Support the 2026 Radiothon
The Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre Foundation Radiothon is one of the Foundation's most important annual fundraising initiatives. The Radiothon raises funds toward priority medical equipment for our local Health Centre and brings our communities together in support of better health care close to home.
The 2026 Radiothon will take place on September 24, 2026.
We encourage our families, friends, neighbours, and fellow local businesses to consider supporting this year's Radiothon. Every contribution helps strengthen health care in our own community — and one day, that care could make a difference for you, someone you love, or someone you know.
To everyone who works, volunteers, donates, organizes, and gives their time to support the Dr. Charles L.LeGrow Health Centre Foundation, thank you.
Your commitment to our community does not go unnoticed.

At East Haven Funeral Home Inc., we believe that a strong community is one where everyone has a place, everyone is supported, and everyone is included. That is one of the reasons we are proud to support AIM — Autism Involves Me and their continued work throughout our community.
Founded in Port aux Basques, AIM was created by parents and advocates who recognized the need for greater support, understanding, and inclusion for children and families affected by autism. What began as a local effort grew into something that has had an impact far beyond the families who first came together.
AIM has worked to increase autism awareness, support families, encourage inclusion, and help our community better understand the experiences of people with autism and other sensory needs. Their work has included community education, advocacy, recreation opportunities, sensory initiatives, and working with local businesses and organizations to create more welcoming and accessible environments.
The impact of that work can be seen throughout our community. Port aux Basques received national recognition in 2018 as Canada's most autism-friendly town, following years of community efforts to create greater awareness and inclusion. AIM's work was an important part of that journey.
Riding for a More Inclusive Community
One of the ways we are especially proud to support AIM is through their annual Ride for Autism - in partner with the Wreckhouse Riders. The Ride brings people together in a wonderful show of community spirit while helping raise awareness and support for AIM's work. It's a reminder that creating an inclusive community isn't something one person or one organization can accomplish alone.
It takes all of us.
At East Haven Funeral Home Inc., we are honoured to continue supporting AIM and the families they serve. Their work reminds us that sometimes making a community better starts with something as simple as understanding, accepting, and making room for everyone.
To the volunteers, advocates, families, businesses, riders, and supporters who continue to stand behind AIM — thank you for everything you do. We are proud to stand alongside you.
