It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Wilbourne Dominic Button, known to many as Don, announce his passing on December 22nd, 2024, at the age of 85 after battling dementia. Born in Port aux Basques, he was the beloved son of Lucy and Michael Button.

Don was predeceased by his father, Michael Button, mother Lucy Anderson, stepfather Alexander Anderson, infant sister, mother and father-in-law Mary and Alexander Hodder, and brothers and sister-in-law Alex, Clarence, and Elizabeth.

He leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories his partner of 39 years, Bernice Hodder, his son Terry, stepson Wade, and step-grandson Ethan. He is also survived by his only brother Alex and his wife Muriel, as well as nieces and nephews Michael, Darrell, Barb, Amanda, Wendy, and their families. Don will be dearly missed by his brothers and sisters-in-law Clayton and Shirley, Eric and Alma, Wilson and Lillian, Wayne and Bonnie, Anne, Betty, Marie, Maisie and Bob, and Cedella. He also leaves behind many friends, including his special friends Wayne Croucher and Ches Kettle, and his hunting and fishing buddies.

The family extends a special thanks to the long-term care staff at Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre for their compassionate care, and to Angela and Kierra for their support.

Family and friends are welcome to visit on Monday, December 23rd, 2024, from 6-9 PM at East Haven Funeral Home in Port aux Basques, NL, with the funeral service taking place on Tuesday, December 24th, 2024, at 11 am, officiated by Rev. Faye Coffin, interment following at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill. Funeral arrangements are in the care of East Haven Funeral Home Inc, 57 Grand Bay Road, Port aux Basques.
