Mount Pearl

Obituary

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Wayne Wells announces his peaceful passing surrounded by family in Mount Pearl, NL on Friday, November 28th, 2025, at the age of 76 years. Born in Stones Cove, NL. Wayne was the son of the late George and Ella Wells (nee Harris). He was also predeceased by his brother; Raymond; father and mother-in-law, Ernest and Annabelle Walters.

Wayne leaves to mourn with many fond and precious memories his loving wife of 54 years Marie Wells (nee Walters). He will forever remain in the hearts of his children, Lynette Wells (Wendy Murphy), Tony Wells (Siobhan Osmond), Cathy Wells (Darren Farrell); grandchildren; Dylan Byrne, Mackenzie Wells, Jasmine Chaulk, Jesse Chaulk, Jax Farrell; great grandchild, Maverick; brothers, Aubrey (Lorraine) Wells, Jack (Elsie) Wells; Like brothers, Peter and Chris Kettle; and like a sister, Kim Wells;  brother-in-law, Cecil Walters; sisters-in-law, Viola (Wilson) Kettle, and Mary Lou Walters. Plus, a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Wayne lived his life with a warmth that welcomed everyone who crossed his path.A man who loved hunting and fishing, riding on his quad or a good game of cards, he could often be found watching the perfect sunset from his deck overlooking the ocean in McDougall's. Though he was a man of few words, his friendly demeanour meant that when he did speak, everyone listened—and usually ended up having a laugh. In the midst of all that, Wayne worked with Newtel for 30 years and later had a hand in the family jewellery store. He loved his family fiercely, treasured lifelong friends, and always had a drink ready to share with anyone who stepped through the door. Whether he was cooking up something delicious on the BBQ, fixing something at the bench, or humming along to Bob Seger, Wayne brought fun, kindness, and a genuine love of life to everything he did. Everyone would agree, he was a GREAT man.

In keeping with Wayne's wishes, cremation has taken place. Family and friends are welcome to visit on Friday, December 5th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at East Haven Funeral Home, 57 Grand Bay Road, Port aux Basques NL with funeral service taking place on Saturday, December 6th at St, James Anglican Church at 2 PM officiated by Rev.
