Obituary

It is with the utmost sadness that we, the family of our beloved mother, grandmother, Susanna Ball (nee Foote), announce her peaceful passing at the Ocean View Continuing Care Centre in Eastern Passage Nova Scotia, at the age of 88.

Born in Isle aux Morts, Susanna was the daughter of the late Thomas and Frances Foote (nee Lefrense). She was also predeceased by her husband, Gordon Ball; son Keith Ball; granddaughter Christa Ball; mother and father in-law Martha Ann and Llewellyn Ball; brothers George and Nathan Foote; sisters Violet Keeping, Maggie Seymour and Meta Coleman; brothers in-law Randall Keeping, Eli Seymour, Churchill Coleman, Johnny Ball, Matthew Ball, Dominic Lefrense, Eric Durnford and James Spencer; sister in-law Edith Spencer, Vera Lefrense, Mary Foote, Charlotte Durnford, Naomi Ball and Carrie Ball.

Leaving to mourn, with lots of loving memories, are her children; Llewellyn (Krista) Ball, Grant (Eleanor) Ball, Charlotte (Rick) Mombourquette, Stella (Arnold) Anderson, Laura (Mark) McGee, Susanne Mombourquette; her 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild; sister in-law Augusta Foote; Lloyd Mombourquette, whom she dearly loved and special nephew Eli (Carolyn) Seymour who was raised as a brother. Her large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends will also miss her greatly.

Early in their marriage, Susanna, fondly known as Susie, and her husband, Gordon, owned and ran their own grocery store, restaurant and gas station. She later worked with Connor Brothers until her retirement. Shortly after her retirement, she moved to Nova Scotia, where she spent time with her family and travelled between Newfoundland and New Brunswick, where her other children resided, as well as many other family members. "We often referred to mom as "Traveling Susie". She was a member of the LOBA for many years, enjoyed a game of Bingo and was always up for a game of cards. Susie was always a kind and gentle soul who loved having her family close by. Her favourite thing was to spend time with them as they meant everything to her!

Thank you to staff at Oceanview manner who provided her the best care.
