It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Ruth Marie Downey (nee Anderson) announce h er peaceful passing at her residence in O'Regan's, NL on Wednesday, April 2 7 ^th , 2022 at the age of 8 4 years. Born in Port aux Basques, NL, Ruth was the daughter of the late William and Beatrice Anderson (nee Billard). She was also predeceased by her husband; Michael Downey, father and mother-in-law; John and Maude Downey (nee Smith), infant granddaughter Stacey Downey , sisters; Rebecca (James) Sheaves , Mildred (George) Burridge, Nina (Clarence) Skeard, brothers- in-law ; Edward Downey, Frank (Annie) Downey, Raymond (Ida) Downey, George (Marie) Downey, Leo Downey, Augustus Downey, Thomas Downey, Bernard O'Gorman, sister s- in-law ; Rose (Carl) Brake, and Theresa (Randolph) Prosser. R uth leaves behind with many fond and loving memories her son; Michael (Diane) Downey of O'Regan's, NL, James ( Gor etti) Downey of Halifax, NS, Cecil (Rache a l) Downey of Yarmouth, NS, daughter s ; Wanda (Roger) Chaisson of Sackville, NS, Sylvia Downey ( Randy) of Codroy, NL , Darlene (Dennis) Downey of South Branch, NL and Arlene (John) Squires of Fort McMurray, AB. She will forever remain in the hearts of her grandchildren; Jeffrey, Darren, Carlene, Terrilynn, Arthur, Tiffany, Travis, Derick, Shawn Lee, Angie, Jam ie , Adrian, Erica, Vince, Dustin, D ylan and Jay, plus twenty nine g reat-grandchildren.

Ruth also leaves behind her brother; Cecil (Florence) Anderson of Pasadena, NL, brother- in-law ; H ycianth (Mary) Downey of Dryden, ON, sister s - in-law ; Margaret O'Gorman of Stephenville, NL, B lanche Downey of Millville, NL and Winifred Downey of Codroy, NL, plus a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Visitation will take place on S unday , May 1 ^st , from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at East Haven Funeral Home Inc, 57 Grand Bay Road, Port aux Basques NL. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church in Upper Ferry on Monday , May 2 ^nd at 2 p.m. officiated by Father Andrew White. Interment follow ing at Mount St. Thomas Cemetery, Great Codroy. Flowers graciously accepted or donations in Ruth's memory can be made to the family .
