Obituary

It is with heartfelt sorrow we announce the peaceful passing of Rosanna Cake (nee Green), age 93, on Friday, August 16th, 2024, surrounded by loved ones at the Dartmouth General Hospital, Dartmouth, NS. Born in Rencontre West, NL, Rosanna (Rosie) was the daughter of the late Rupert and Mary Jane (nee Clothier) Green. Rosie was predeceased by her loving husband of 70 years Abraham (Abey) John Cake, as well as her brothers Richard and Enos, her sisters Nellie, Annie, Mary and Elizabeth (Lizzie), along with brothers-in-law George Miles, George Sitland, and sisters-in-law Jessie Green and Shirley Green.

A loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great, great grandmother, Rosie will be sadly missed by her children; John (Nina) of North Sydney NS, Richard (Hilda) of Stephenville NL, Golda (Bob) of Port aux Basques NL, Diane (Gideon) of Cole Harbour NS, Ron (Kerry) of Warman SK, and Yvonne of Cole Harbour NS. 12 grandchildren; Corey (Jeanine), Deanna (Trevor), Kevin, Sharon (Darryl), Christa (Bruce), Jonathan (Keira), Terri-Lynn (Matt), Shawn (Tassia), April (Stephen), Stephen (Sarah), Kaitlyn (Devin), and Meagan. 18 great grandchildren; Lilly, Peyton, Hailey, Dylan, Brianna (Kyle), Chase, Maddie, Karter, Kennedy, Emmerson, Georgia, Luna, Felix, Finley, Cameron, Arlo, Dawson, and Liam. 3 great, great grandchildren; Connor, Charlotte, and Sophia, along with a large circle of nieces, nephews and many friends.

Always a mother first, Rosie was a hardworking homemaker who would do anything for her family. Spending her best days at their cabin in the Codroy Valley, she prided herself in taking care of her and Abey John's special place. From keeping up her beautiful garden, to baking and knitting, Rosie always kept herself busy. She enjoyed a game of bingo and was always up for a game of cards, whether at the local senior's club or with friends and family. She enjoyed day trips in the car and was always a grateful passenger. Blessed to have family all over, Rosie loved to travel to ensure she had quality time with them all. Rosie was very special to all who knew her and will be missed beyond words.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no formal gathering at this time, the family will announce the interment at a later date. Donations in memory of Rosie can be made to the St. James Anglican Church, Port aux Basques, NL. Funeral arrangements in the care of East Haven Funeral Home Inc, 57 Grand Bay Road, Port aux Basques, 695-2300. www.easthavenfuneralhome.com
