Our lives were forever changed on March 4th, 2024 with the peaceful passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend Roland (Edward) Kettle at the age of 78.
Roland is survived by his loving wife Evelyn (nee Osmond) ; son Cecil (Annette), and daughter Jennifer (Dave). Roland loved all of his grandchildren, Marlene (Mervyn), Caitlyn, Ryan (Christine) and Mitch. and his great grandchildren; Tessa, Claire and Amelia. He also will be missed by his brother Jordan (Marilyn) and his brother in laws Ron (Mary), Arch (Ann) , Ralph, Alex (Karen), Wilson (Winnie), Jerry (Susie), Charlie (Jessie), John(Sarah), Terry (Janet) and Lloyd. He also leaves a very large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Roland was the son of the late Nathan and Hilda Kettle (née Lomond). He was also predeceased by his son Stephen, his father and mother in-law William and Berthina Osmond, his sister, Juanita , his brother in law Philip (Beulah), and his sister in laws Rose, Nellie (Gerald), and Dulcie.
Roland worked for 36 years at Marine Atlantic and Terra Transport but since 2001 was enjoying his retirement. Over the years Roland had many hobbies including darts, painting, hunting, ski-dooing, spending time at his cabin and carpentry. Whatever he was doing was done with a smile and generally involved being surrounded by family and friends. In recent years he had a passion for photography and went all over NL taking pictures, He loved to connect with people through his photos on Facebook.
Roland was a strong family man who loved his immediate and extended family. He was always there to help and support them. If anyone needed a hand with a project, Roland was there to help. His home was always open to whoever wanted or needed a place to stay.
Roland had many special friends in life and through Facebook. We could not begin to name all the people that he loved and who loved him. He will be forever in our hearts and in our memories.
The family would like to thank Dr. Blecher and his two angels-Community Health Nurses Jessica and Gonish for the excellent care and compassion that they gave to him.
