Robert Louis
Keeping
Aug 6, 1948 — Aug 26, 2024
It is with deepest sympathy that we announce the passing of our father, Robert Louis Keeping on Monday, August 26th at the age of 76.
He was predeceased by his parents Harold H. Keeping and Alva E. Keeping, sister Elizabeth (Betty-Lou) Sheardown, brother George Keeping.
Leaving to mourn his wife of 52 years Rowena Catherine Keeping (Hynes), his children and their families Robb and wife Trina Collins, Kelly and husband Mike Gale. Grandchildren; Noah Keeping, Aeryn Keeping, Caelan Keeping, Malcolm Gale, and Gwendolyn Gale. Along with sisters and brother; Joan Gale, Claudia Lawrence, Maxwell Keeping, and In-laws; Tina Keeping, Bernice Keeping, Doug Hynes, Helen Hynes, Edmund Hynes, and Therri Letourneau. He leaves a large circle of nieces and nephews and was called Uncle Bob by many.
Born and living the larger part of life in Port Aux Basques, he left for work and as many of us do, and found another home filled with family and friends. Until the past year his home was in the community of Galahad AB, where Bob and Rowena had a lively bunch of family and friends that made up their new community. Dad and Mom enjoyed their time there, had plentiful apple trees, and were happy.
If ever there was truth to the phrase "look for the helpers" Bob was the embodiment. He was always there to lend a hand whatever community he lived in. For most of his time living in Port Aux Basques, Bob was actively involved in the Volunteer Fire Department in which he had a large presence in many community functions, events, and even tragedies.
Most recently home was in the heart of Leduc, in Planeview Manor, where he was living a peaceful and very dedicated life with Rowena, visiting her every opportunity since she has been in Extendi-care. As everywhere Bob has been in life, he became a part of his surroundings, leaving his absence known.
Although, he wore many hats, such as Fireman Bob, Theatre Bob, Paper Bob, we think the accomplishments he was proudest of was being called; Dad, or Poppy Bob.
If you happen to find a pair of glasses call us and let us know.
Visitation to occur 6-8 pm Wednesday September 4th at Serenity Funeral Service, 4702 51 Avenue, Leduc, AB, website: www.serenity.ca with a Celebration of Life to occur 1pm Saturday September 7th at St. Paul's Anglican Church in Leduc, Alberta. Interment to follow at Leduc Cemetery at 5pm.
A very special Thank you to all the staff of Alberta Health, Planeview Manor, Extendi-care, and Leduc General Hospital; your patience and the level of care you've provided for our family is greatly appreciated.
