It is with sad and heavy hearts, that the family of the late Rita Edmunds (nee King) announce her passing at Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre on August 20, 2025 at the age of 87 with her loving family by her side. Born in Burnt Islands, she was the daughter of Norman and Belinda (nee Keeping) King. Rita was predeceased by her husband Benjamin, son Dennis, grandson Adam and her sister in law Margaret King.

She leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories, her children; Wilson (Aggie) of St. Andrews, Edward (Cathy) of Mountain View, Belinda, Rachel, Kathleen (Wade), Andrea (Garland) all of Isle aux Morte, Benjamin (Kathy) of Fort McMurry, Rhonda (Paul) of Port aux Basques, Lewis (Susan) of Bishop Falls, Adrian (Patty) of Edmonton Alberta and her loving brother Mansell King, 17 grand children and 18 great grand children.

Rita was a proud member of the ACW, 50+ Club and the Women's Lodge. Rita Loved the seniors club. She enjoyed the drop ins and the get together with her many friends. She also talked about the many trips she took with her friends Madeline and Gladys, all around the island for the Lodge. She was a proud supporter.

Rita will be remembered as a sweet and loving soul whose laughter and bright smile could light up any room. She had a true passion for sewing and quilting, pouring her heart into every stitch, and her famous pot of pea soup was a comfort that family and friends will never forget. Rita's joyful spirit, her easy laughter, and the warmth she carried made her beloved by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories that will forever live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.

The family would like to thank the staff and Dr. Blecher and the amazing nurses for your compassionate support and care and to her worker Lisa LeFrense for your amazing work and care you did for our mother.

Family and friend are welcome to visit Holy Spirit Church in Isle aux Morte, Friday, August 22nd and Saturday August 23rd, from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm, with funeral service taking place August 24th at 2PM. Interment to follow at Hillside Haven Cemetery. Flowers are graciously accepted and donations in Rita's memory can be made to the Holy Spirit Church in Isle aux Morte.
