Ralph
Janes
Dec 28, 1932 — Aug 14, 2025
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Ralph Janes announces his passing at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital on Thursday August 14th, 2025 at the age of 92 years. Born in Codroy, NL, Ralph was the son of the late Darcey and Maria Janes (nee Parsons). He was also predeceased by his son, Amos; father and mother-in-law, George and Rose Collier; brothers George, Arthur (Jessie), Fred (Lorraine) Walter, Johnny, Clem and Jim; sisters, Alice (Howard), Clara (William), Annie (Clem), and Winnie (Tom); plus large circle of brothers and sisters in-law.
He leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories, the love of his life, his wife of 71 years Ruth Janes (nee Collier); his only daughter Rose (Don) Samms; daughter in-law, Rosalie; his grandchildren, Donna (Brent), Jeff (Maureen), and Trevor (Ella); his great grandchildren, Brady, Jenna, Alysa, and Jackson; plus a very large circle of nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.
Special thanks to Ralph's caregiver, Galdys Lushman for the exceptional care and compassion given to him over the years, as well as angel nurse Glennis at Sir Thomas Roddick, on medicine, for her care and compassion the last little while.
Ralph was a truly kind and caring man, known for his warm heart and the gentle way he spoke about everyone he met. He had a gift for lifting spirits, always offering a good word or a quiet kindness when it was needed most. Ralph found joy in the simple things—he loved being outdoors, especially when he was cutting wood, feeling the fresh air and the rhythm of honest work. But above all, he cherished time spent playing board games with family and friends, with a special fondness for a good game of Jumbo. His laughter around the table and his thoughtful, playful spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Family and friends are welcome to visit on Sunday August 17th from 7-9pm at Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Codroy, NL. Funeral will take place on Monday 18th, at 2 PM Internment will follow.
