Obituary

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Pierce (Nifty) Spicer announces his sudden passing at his residence in Diamond Cove, Rose Blanche, NL on Tuesday, April 9th, 2024 at the age of 65 years. Born in Diamond Cove, NL, Nifty was the son of the late Henry and Cassie Spicer (nee Skinner). He was also predeceased by his brothers Reuben, Wilfred, Ross, Clifford, Donald (Nina), Bill, and Roy (Maxine); brother-in-law Rodney Francis.

He leaves to mourn with loving memories his brothers and sisters, Barry (Elizabeth) Spicer, Roland (Leah) Spicer, Maud (John) Dobbin all of Diamond Cove, NL, Winston (Darlene) Spicer of Debert, NS, Scott (Darlene) Spicer of Glace Bay, NS, and Minnie Francis of McDougalls Gulch, NL; sisters-in-law Eva Anderson and Vera Spicer; Special friend, young Calvin Durnford plus a large circle of nieces, nephews and many friends.

For those who knew Nifty, you know he lived a pretty unique and interesting life.
Pierce was like no other person that any of us will ever likely know again. He was mysterious, harmless, always on the go, he loved his freedom and his beer, his friends and he sometimes got up to no good! Nifty was a humble person, helped where he could and never really asked for anything in return.

Nifty really was the Man, the Myth, the Legend. His skin was as weathered as the rocks that line the shores of Diamond Cove. His life was a mirror of the sea, calm one day and up she rose the next.
Pierce lived a simple yet hard life, loved by many yet was the devil to others.

He will go down as the Legend of Diamond Cove Your legacy will surely live on as there are plenty of Nifty stories to be shared into eternity!

In keeping with Nifty's wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Tuesday April 16th, 2024 from 11 AM to 2 PM at East Haven Funeral Home Inc. 57 Grand Bay Road, Port aux Basques, NL from where the funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM officiated by Rev. Canon Diana Frye with interment to follow at Hillside Haven Cemetery, Isle aux Morts Road. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family.
