It is with extreme sorrow and heavy hearts that the family of the late Mary Ellen (Edmunds) Sheaves announces her sudden passing on Thursday July 18, 2024 at Dr. Charles L LeGrow Hospital in Port aux Basques, NL.

Mary Ellen was born in Channel Port aux Basques Hospital on June 2, 1961 to Thomas Nelson and Miriam Catherine Edmunds (nee Munden). Mary Ellen grew up in Isle aux Morts and met the love of her life at the age of 17. While it took a few tries, she did eventually agree to marry her love, Cecil Sheaves, on July 2, 1988, spending over 45 beautiful years together.

Mary Ellen was a loving mother to Tyson of Red Deer, Alberta and Miranda (Andy) of Port aux Basques. She was also a proud and caring Nan to Beau and Brixton.

Mary Ellen was predeceased by her parents Tom and Miriam Edmunds; brother, Thomas William; brother in law, Douglas (Doug) Sheaves; sisters in law, Judy Edmunds and Bertha Lushman; brother in law, Ivan Bryan; and infant sister Miriam.

Leaving to mourn with many fond and precious memories her brothers Charles Edmunds of McDougalls Gulch, Marty (Jackie) of Deer Lake, NL; sisters, Rachel (Mike) DeRosa of Calgary, Alberta, Lisa (Donnie) of Black Duck Siding, NL; brothers in law, Dave (Janet), Ken (Josie), Dwayne (Roxanne) Sheaves, Emmanuel Kettle, and Jim (Kay) Sheaves all of Port aux Basques and Jerry (Cathy) Sheaves of North Sydney, NS; sisters in law, Loretta Bryan, Cynthia (Wilson) Thorne and long time best friend and sister in law Michelle (Bill) Sheaves; God daughters, Charleston (Floyd) Ingram of Oromocto, NB, and Robyn DeRosa of Calgary AB; God son, Matt (Allison) Edmunds. Mary Ellen will be greatly missed by her many friends, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Family and Friends are welcomed to visit on Thursday July 25th  from 7-9 PM at East Haven Funeral Home Inc. 57 Grand bay Road, Port aux Basques. The funeral service will be held on July 26th at 2 PM from St. James Anglican Church, in Port aux Basques, officiated by Rev. Jane Allen. Internment will take place at a later date. Donations in Mary Ellen's memory can be made to the St. James Elementary Breakfast program.
