Corner Brook

Obituary

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Mary Lillian Farrell (nee Hardy) announce her passing at Western Long Term Care in Corner Brook with her daughter by her side, on May 8, 2025, at the age of 85 years.

Born in Port aux Basques, Mary was the daughter of the late Matthew and Blanche Hardy (nee Spencer). She was also predeceased by her husband Max Farrell, father and mother-in-law Albert and Violet Farrell (nee Organ); infant son Kenneth Farrell; brothers Alex (Jean) Hardy, Ran (Eileen) Hardy and Jackie Hardy; brothers-in-law Kenneth Sweet, Clyde Buttery, George (Nina) Farrell, and Keltie (Fanny) Farrell; sisters-in-law Zenith Sheaves and Helen (Howard) Shears.

She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, sons Tony (Georgina) Farrell of Corner Brook, Max Jr. (Kathy) Farrell of Dartmouth, NS; daughter Vanda (Terry) Anderson of Port aux Basques; grandchildren Matthew (Roxanne), Heather (Shane), Spencer, and Ethan; great-grandchildren Jacob, Charlotte, Brexton, Mathieu, Miguel; sister Winnie Buttery; sister-in-law Nora (Reg) Cantwell; plus a large circle of nieces, nephews, and friends. In her younger years, Mary enjoyed broomball and softball. She could work circles around any man and was always there to help. As she got older, she enjoyed relaxing on her back deck with her husband Max, listening to music on nice summer days.

She loved her family and always put them first. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who will be forever missed. Special thanks to Joy Hackett and all the staff at Bayside, WLTC. They were absolutely wonderful from the first day she moved there to the day she passed. Extra special thanks to Sherry Savory who was her home support worker before she moved to LTC. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. The "little things" you did, were big things for us!

In keeping with Mary's wishes, cremation has taken place. Mom and Dad are together again and their interment will be held at a later date. Donations in Mary's memory can be made to the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre Foundation  Funeral arrangements were in the care of East Haven Funeral Home Inc., 57 Grand Bay Road, Port aux Basques, NL, info@easthavenfuneralhome.com (709)-695-2300 www.easthavenfuneralhome.com
