It is with heavy hearts and deepest sorrow that the family of the late Mary Downe y (nee Gale) announce her peaceful passing on Friday May 1 5 ^th , 2023 at the age of 81 years, with her loving family by her side, at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre. Mary was the daughter of the late Joseph and Fran cis Gale . She was also predeceased by her husband, Primo Downey ; birth mother, Mary Brown(nee Savory); grand-sons, Ryder and Gerald; brothers, Arthur Gale, Jim Savoury, John C Brown, Cecil O Brown.

She leaves to mourn with many fond and loving memories her children, Millie of Newfoundland, Ada of Ontario, Annie of Calgery Alberta, Aiden of Winnipeg Manitoba, Augustine of Ontario and Michael of Ontario; grandchildren, Cathy, Trumanda, Skyler, Crystal and Gordon; great-grandchildren, Tristian, Quentin and Wade; siblings, Joey Gale of Ontario, Audrey Honks of Ontario, Thomas A Brown of Nova Scotia, Bernice M Carr of Nova Scotia, Earl K Brown of Ontario, Rose-lee Hatchard of British Columbia, Geral d R Brown of British Columbia, Tony N Brown of Alberta, Donald G Brown of Nova Scotia plus a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Mary was a very hard-working mother and housewife. S he was always volunteering and fundrais ing for various organizations. S he enjoyed gardening, raising animals, playing bingo and darts, and enjoyed being in the company of good friends. S he was always taking in people to care for. Known for a mouth that would put a sailor to shame when it came to cussing, there was nothing that she couldn't lift or move. S he would give you the shirt off her back if she thought that you needed it but she would quickly tear it off you if you made her mad.

There will be a celebration of life on Wednesday, May 24 ^th at Millie's residence, 83 Main Road, Great Codroy, NL I nternment will take place on July 31 ^st , 2023.
