Obituary

On Wednes day, February 24 th , 2021 our hearts were broken and our lives were forever changed as we say goodbye to our loving Mother, Grandmother, Great- g randmother, and Great-great grandmother. The family sadly announce the peaceful passing of Marie Dicks (nee Kettle) at the Dr. Charles. L. LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques at the grand age of 102 years.

Born in Cape Ray, NL, Marie was the daughter of the late John T and Elizabeth Kettle (nee Pauls). She was predeceased by her husband; Morgan Dicks in 1976, infant daughter; Diane, son and daughter-in-law; Philip and Gladys Dicks, son and daughter- in-law; David and Elizabeth Dicks, daughter and son-in-law; Juanita and Harold Alley, son; Albert Dicks, son; Calvin Dicks, and great-grandson; Gregory Francis.

Marie leaves to mourn with many fond and precious memories her sons; Lester (Edna) Dicks of Windsor, NS, Ivan (Ruby) Dicks, Conrad (Gladys) Dicks, Claude (Florence) Dicks, Robert Dicks and Gordon Dicks all of Port aux Basques, NL. She also leaves behind a great circle of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren plus a large circle of extended family and many many friends.

The last couple years saw Marie home bound but until then she enjoyed life to the fullest. She enjoyed playing cards, crossword puzzles and she loved to socialize. She was a friend to everyone she met. Marie was known as the "Queen of Army Hill" and will forever be missed by all who knew her. In her wonderful 102 years on this earth, Marie has seen many many changes and the stories she told her family and friends will always be treasured as a lifetime of memories. Marie will be sadly missed by Susie and Jerry Osmond whom she loved as her own. A special thank you to her home-support worker of nine years Marjorie McCarthy. A special thank you to the doctors and staff at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre for the kindness and compassion shown to Marie in her final days.

Due to the latest Government regulations, there will be a private family viewing and funeral service. Interment to follow at St. Paul's Anglican Cemetery, Grand Bay. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marie's memory can be made to the St. Paul's Anglican Cemetery . Funeral arrangements were in the care of East Haven Funeral Home Inc., 57 Grand Bay Road, Port aux Basques, NL, info@easthavenfuneralhome.com (709)-695-2300 www.easthavenfuneralhome.com
