It is with great sadness that the family of Margaret St. Croix (nee MacArthur) announce her passing on May 15 ^th 2023 at the Crosswinds Seniors Resort in Robinson's, Newfoundland at the age of 97. Margaret was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was the daughter of the late Angus MacArthur & Selina AuCoin. She was also predeceased by her husband, Joseph St Croix and her daughter Linda as well as siblings Archibald, Jessie, Louis, Louise, Anastasia, Mary, Cyril, Janie, Donald, Sarah, Rosie and Raymond.

She was born 26 July 1925 in Coal Brook where she spent most of her life.

During the second World War, she, like hundreds of young women from rural Newfoundland went to Hespeler, Ont., to work at Dominion Woolens and Worsteds, a huge textile mill. For the Mill Girls, as they were known, it was the adventure of a lifetime . She also would have worked for a group called The Farmettes; girls who worked on the farms in Ontario tending and harvesting crops.

She is survived by children Ron, (Cynthia) Patricia, (Guy) Shirley, (Roger) Jack, (Jackie) Alex, (Kit) Neil, (Stacey) Imelda, (Joe) Ben, (Joanne) Bernette, (Shawn) Derin, (Deanna) Rhonda, (Tony) 18 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

In keeping with Margaret's wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a rosary at St. Sylvester's Church in South Branch on Wednesday May 17 th, 2023, from 7 – 9 PM, and the funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 18 ^th 2023 at St. Sylvester's Church at 3 PM. Interment to follow at St. Sylvester's Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are in the care of East Haven Funeral Home.
