Mansell
King
Aug 1, 1935 — Sep 27, 2025
Port aux Basques
It is with sadness that the family of the late Mansell King announces his peaceful passing in Long Term Care at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre with his loving family by his side. He was the son of the late Norman and Belinda King (nee keeping), and predeceased by his loving wife Margaret; son Ricky; grandson Justin; parents in-law Francis and Doris Sooley; sister Rita; nephew Dennis; brothers-in-law Ben, Francis, Hedley, Lewis, Gordon, Selwyn, and Percy; and sister in-laws Sarah and Dorothy.
Leaving to mourn with precious memories, his children Dennis (Sheila), Belinda (Harold), Hedley (Athena); grand-children Curtis (Rosena), Dana (Roxanne), Tanya (Wayne), Amanda (Rolf), Lana, Ricky (Allison), Denise (Mark), Krista (Katerina); daughter in-law Nancy; sisters in-law Ella, Emily and Hazel; brother in-law Clyde (Marg); and 9 great-grandchildren.
He was a fisherman all his life, casting his nets and hauling in the sea's bounty from the rugged waters of Burnt Islands. For 20 years, he owned the Kings Cozy Corner Pub, a beloved local spot where Saturday night dances lit up the town and his famous burgers drew crowds from near and far. If you weren't through the door by 7 P.M., you'd be out of luck- the place filled fast and stayed shoulder to shoulder all night long. In August, he proudly marked his 90th birthday—a milestone that spoke to a life well lived, filled with hard work, quiet strength, and deep love. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, whose presence will be missed more than words can say. Now, after a life spent near the sea, he is reunited with his beloved wife of 71 years, Margaret—his anchor, his companion, and his heart. Together again, they rest in peace
In keeping with Mansell's wishes, cremation has taken place. Funeral services and interment will take place at a later date. Arrangements are in the care of East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques, (709) 695-2300, info@easthavenfunerealhome.com.
