It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Mabel Keeping announces her passing on October 29, 2026, at the age of 79 years. Born on September 15th, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Wendell and Harriett Keeping.
She was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Veronica; her parents Wendell and Harriett Keeping; parents-in-law, Levi and Francis Keeping; brothers, Herman (Lillian) Keeping and Monford (Phyllis) Keeping; sister, Phyllis (Reg) Leamon; brother-in-law, Gideon Courtney and nephews, Wendell Leamon and Corwin Keeping.
Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of treasured memories is her loving and devoted husband of 60 years, George Keeping; her cherished daughters, Denise (Clifford) Taylor and Linda (Colin) Harvey; and her precious grandchildren, Geneva Taylor (Joshua), Clifton (Sara) Taylor, and Kalan Harvey (Reneé). She also leaves behind her adored great-grandchildren, Lena, Bree, and Levi, who brought so much happiness and joy into her life.
She will be dearly missed by her brothers, Roy (Rose) Keeping and Harold (Belinda) Keeping; her brothers-in-law, Gilbert (Addie) Keeping, Roger (Janie) Keeping, Kenneth (Jacqueline) Keeping, and Tommy (Deanna) Keeping; and her sisters-in-law, Dora, Linda (Amos) Francis, and Eileen (Lorne) Munden. She also leaves behind a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
Mabel was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose greatest happiness was found in the love of her family. She shared 60 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, George, building a life together filled with love, cherished memories, and family. Above all else, her grandchildren held an especially precious place in her heart. She absolutely adored them, taking great pride in their lives and accomplishments, and treasured every moment spent in their company.
Throughout her life, she found joy in the simple pleasures that meant so much. She loved knitting, losing herself in a good book, and enjoying a friendly game of cards. These were among the little things that brought her comfort, happiness, and opportunities to spend time with those she loved. Her faith was also an important part of her life. She enjoyed attending church and was a proud member of the ACW for many years. Through her involvement, she shared in the fellowship, friendship, and sense of community that meant so much to her.
She will be remembered for the love she had for her family, her devotion to those closest to her, and the many precious memories she leaves behind. Although her absence will be deeply felt, the love she gave so freely will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
A visitation for family will take place on Saturday, October 31, 2026 from 7-9 PM and for family and friends on Sunday, November 1, 2026 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at St. George’s Anglican Church in Burnt Islands, NL.
