Obituary

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Lewis Bond announce his peaceful passing, with his loving family by his side, at the Dr. Charles L LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques, NL.  Born in Lapoile, NL. Lewis was the son of the late Thomas and Florence Bond (née Organ). He was also predeceased by his father and mother in-law Albert and Margaret Taylor; his sister, Diane (Isaac); son in-law, Daryl Billard; sisters in-law, Edna (Walter) Vautier, Evelyn (Henry) Organ, Viola Bond, and Dulcie Bond.

Lewis leaves behind his loving wife of 56 years, Gloria; his children, Lorraine, Alvin, Melissa, Tony (Harriett), Stephen (Annie) and Scott (Carrie); grandchildren, Laura (Tyler), Carley (Ethan), Tara (Kyle), Nakita and Sarah; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Kaylee, Naomi and Liam.  He will also be missed by his sisters and brothers; Vera, Rose, Cliff, Phil, Melvin(Rita), Elieen (Alex), Gary(Delores), Brenda (Bruce) and Kevin(Gail); and a very large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Lewis was a quiet man, who didn't have a bad word to say about anyone. He would say that the more someone hurt him, the more he would help them.  A hard working lobster fisherman who loved every minute he spent on the water. The only thing he enjoyed doing more then hauling those pots was helping people. He even enjoyed going from home to home helping to decorate peoples Christmas tress during the holiday season.

The family would like to thanks the doctors, nurses and staff of Dr. Charles L LeGrow Health Centre for the care and compassion that was shown to Lewis.

Visitation will take place Saturday, January 6th and Sunday January 7th from 2:00-4:00 PM and 7:00-9:00 PM at East Haven Funeral Home Inc., 57 Grand Bay Road.  The funeral service will take place on Monday, January 8th, 2024 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul's Anglican Church, Grand Bay, NL, officiated by the Rev.
