Obituary

It is with profound sadness that the family of the late Katina Keeping announces her peaceful passing with family at her side on June 1, 2025. Katina passed at the age of 79 while in excellent care at the Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre.

Katina was the daughter of the late Chesley and Mabel Peckford of Change Islands. She was predeceased by son in-law Keith; brothers Bruce and Roy Peckford and sister Pamela Peckford.

She leaves to mourn with many happy and precious memories, her husband of 57 years, Max, and their three children, Suzanne of Clarenville, Trevor (Patti Lynn) of Saudi Arabia, and Joey (Kylene) of Castle Rock, Colorado; her sister Joan Riggs of St. John's and her brother Eddie of Lewisporte; special sisters in law Joan Gale of Grand Bay and Claudia Lawrence of Edmonton. She will always hold a special place in the hearts of her grandchildren Benjamin, Landon, Jacob and Kaitlyn, as well as a large circle of friends and people whose lives she touched.

Katina was a warm, kind and caring friend to many, a gifted teacher, and an especially loving wife and mother. She loved her church, supported her community and always had a kind word for anyone who crossed her path. Her warm smile and ready laugh will be missed.

As per Katina's wishes cremation has already occurred. Visitation will be held on Saturday June 7th from 2:00 -4:00 pm and 7:00 -9:00 pm at East Haven Funeral Home Inc., 57 Grand Bay Road, Port aux Basques, NL. A service to honour Katina will be held on Sunday June 8th at 3:00 pm from St. Paul's Anglican Church in Grand Bay. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul's Church or The Alzheimer's Society of Newfoundland. Internment will take place at a later date.
