It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late John (Jackie) English announces his sudden passing on Monday February 23, 2026 at the age of 72 years. Born in Doyles, NL, Jackie was the son of the late Rodrick John and Louise Ethel (nee Chaulk) English. He was also predeceased by his sisters Louise (Frank) and Marie; brothers, Anthony, Carl, Jim, and Charles; niece Peggy Sue and nephew Darren.

He leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories his wife of 47 years, Alice (nee MacIsaac); his children, Rodrick J (Nina), Patrick Wesley (Nellie), and Matthew Gerard (Nieome); his 3 grandchildren, Arlin, Skyia, and Bryson; He will also be dearly missed by his brothers David and Gary; his good friend Monty, his dog Finn and his cat Chase; plus a large circle of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Jackie took great pride in his years behind the wheel of the school bus, caring for every child as if they were his own. Of all his passengers, none were more precious than his beloved grandson Bryson, who was happiest riding along on Grampy's bus. Jackie found his peace in nature and the outdoors, especially during moose hunting season, where he felt most at home. A devoted family man and a true jack of all trades, he passed on his knowledge, skills, and values with patience and love, making sure his family was always well taught and well cared for.

In keeping with Jackies wishes cremation has taken place. Funeral services taking place on Friday, February 27th at 2 pm at St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church officiated by Father Parkiash interment will follow at Mount St. Thomas Cemetery, Great Codroy. In lieu of flowers donations in Jackie's memory can be made to the family.
