Passed peacefully away at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Care Centre in Port aux Basques on Thursday, November 25 ^th , 2021. Born in Codroy Valley, Newfoundland on July 13 ^th , 1941, Eugene was the son of the late Gerald (Ged) and Margaret Downey (nee Sullivan). Eugene was predeceased by his w ife; Valerie in 2014 and s ister; Lillian in 2014.

Leaving to mourn; sons, Shawn (Patsy Brownrigg), Keith (Shirley), Ross (Shawna Ryan), grandchildren; Julia, Rudey, Megan, Tyler, Kendell, Kiera and honorary granddaughter Bobbi, brothers; Richard (Philomena), Nathan (Arvilla), sisters; Evelyn, Zita (Wayne), and brother-in-law; Calvin West, along with a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

A special thank you to all the doctors, nurses and staff at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre with a special thanks to the Dialysis Unit staff for the wonderful care and compassion shown to Eugene. To Eugene's Home Care Workers; Loriann and Chantelle, we will be forever grateful, you truly are angels here on earth.

In keeping with Eugene's wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no formal visitation or funeral service at this time. Donations in Eugene's name can be made to the Dr. Charles L.
