It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend, Edith King (nee Coleman), who passed away peacefully on August 27th, 2025 at the age of 96 after a brief hospitalization at the Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre.

Born in Isle Aux Morte, Edith was the daughter of the late Andrew and Rosina Coleman (nee Keeping). She was predeceased by her loving husband Frank, son Frankie, step-grandson Michael, as well as five sisters and five brothers. She will be dearly missed by her children; Patricia (Phil), Kevin (Debbie); grandchildren; Pam (Tim), Phil (Tegan) and Kevin; step-grandchildren; Jason and John; her treasured great-grandson Grayson; and her brother Kevin (Elsie). She also leaves behind a large circle of nieces, nephews, friends, and family who adored her.

Edith was a woman of kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family. In her younger years she was an avid card and bingo player and an active member of the Isle Aux Morte Senior's Club. In later years she took pleasure in the simpler things in life – watching her game shows with a cup of tea, a stash of pluck tickets never far from her side. She spent the last many years living in Cape Ray, in the loving care of her daughter (Patricia) and son-in-law (Phil) who made sure she was cared for like a queen. She will always be remembered for her smile and laughter.

The family would like to thank Edith's homecare workers; Cathy, Golda, and Glenda, who cared for her like their own mother over the years. We would also like to extend our heartful gratitude to the doctors and nurses for the amazing care Edith received during her stay in hospital. Your compassion and support will always be remembered. A special thank you to Leona Chaisson who went above and beyond to comfort Edith in her time of greatest need. The family also acknowledges the unwavering support of Elise Coleman, who has been an angel to Edith and her family for many, many years, treating her like a second mom. We will forever be thankful to you all.

Family and friends are invited to Holy Spirit Church in Isle Aux Morte, Friday and Saturday, August 29th and 30th, from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral services will take place on Sunday, August 31st at 2pm, with internment to follow at Hillside Haven Cemetery. A reception to honour Edith will take place at the Isle Aux Morte Seniors Club at 4pm following internment. Flowers are graciously accepted and donations in Edith's honour can be made to the Holy Spirit Church.

She will be forever loved and deeply missed.
