It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Edgar Earl Sheaves announces his passing at his residence on Saturday August 9th, 2025 at the age of 77 years. Born in Channel-Port aux Basques, NL, Earl was the son of the late Edgar and Pearl (nee Neil) Sheaves. He was also predeceased by his father and mother-in-law Jim and Vera Hinks; brothers Donald, Gerald, Stewart, and Glen Sheaves; sisters, Maisie (Clyde) Morris, and Florence Sheaves; brother in-law Claude Keeping.

He leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories, the love of his life and wife of 53 years Linda (nee Hinks) Sheaves; son, Craig; daughters Kelly (Robert) Pike, and Tina (Corwin) Purchase; his grandchildren Curtis (Hillary) Pike, his buddy and special companion Austin Pike, Cera and Amber-Lynn Purchase; his great grandchildren Tesla MacNeil, Raiya MacNeil, and Arya Pike.

He will also be missed by his brother Melvin (Shirley) Sheaves; his sisters, Marilyn (Tom) Lannon, Laura Keeping and Linda Sheaves; brothers and sisters in-law, Norman Hinks (Ruth), Brenda Gillis (Rannie), Robert Hinks (Marie), Ruth Elms (Brian), Diann Hinks (Harry), Bruce Hinks (Joanne); special cousin and best friend Madelyn and George Lomond; plus a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends.

Earl dedicated 43 years of his life to working in the engine room of the Marine Atlantic boats. With a sharp sense of humour, he delighted in giving people a good scare. His heart belonged to the Toronto Maple Leafs for hockey, while he proudly cheered for the Blue Jays in baseball. In his free time, he found joy in the simple things of life like trout fishing and strumming his guitar.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the community health nurses for the exceptional care provided to Earl.

In keeping with Earls wishes, cremation has taken place. Family and friends are welcome to visit on Thursday August 14th from 1-3 PM at East Haven Funeral Home Inc. With family prayer at 3 PM. Internment will take place at a later date. Donations in Earls memory can be made to a charity of ones choice.
