Obituary

It is with the utmost sadness and the heaviest of hearts that the family of Dennis Albert Battiste announce his sudden passing at Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Corner Brook, on August 8th 2024, at 63 years of age. Dennis was the son of the late Fredrick and Betty Battiste (nee Ford). He is also predeceased by his mother and father in-law, Gordon and Joan MacIsaac; Baby Girl Battiste; sisters, Christine (Rodge) Osmond and Cavell Battiste; sister in-law, Beverly and brothers in-law Gerard and Ivan.

His loss is deeply felt by his loving wife, of 43 years, Valerie. Dennis and Valerie met when they were just 15 and 17 and barely spent a day apart, up until his untimely passing. He also leaves behind his Son Jason (Billie Jo) Battiste and Daughter Deanna (Micheal) Martin, his grandchildren; Karyssa, Landen, Kolton Cohen, Grant and Gerard as well as his beloved companion Jersey. He also leaves behind his brothers and sisters; Edgar Battiste, Joanna (Ronnie) Osmond, Jeanette Battiste, Dorothy Wall, Ester (Mike) Battiste and Tony (Donna) Battiste, his brothers and sisters in law; Alice (Jackie) English, Norman (Lulu) MacIsaac, Gordon (Tina) MacIsaac, Tommy (Donna) MacIsaac, and Nicole (Charles) Bourne, along with a large circle of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Dennis was a carpenter by trade and a very hard worker. He was a devoted husband and his family, especially his grandchildren, were his life. He liked to sit back every Saturday night and relax, watching the Mainland Kitchen Band and he made it a part of his routine to visit the ladies at Mountainside General Store, for a goodhearted tormenting.

In keeping with Dennis' wishes, cremation has taken place and graveside service and internment will take place at later date. In lieu of flowers donations in Dennis' memory can be made to a charity of ones choice. Funeral arrangements are in the care of East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques, (709) 695-2300, info@easthavenfunerealhome.com.
