Cecilia
Gale
Oct 29, 1945 — Sep 10, 2025
It is with sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Cecilia Gale announce her peaceful passing on Wednesday, September 10th, 2025, at the age of 79 years. Born in South Branch, NL, Cecilia was the daughter of the late Alexander and Kathleen (Nee O'Quinn) MacLellan. She was predeceased by her daughters Maureen Gillam and Jenny Brake; grandson Stephen Gillam; son-in-law Sgt. Craig Gillam; brothers Jim, Daniel, Ronald, Angus, and an infant baby brother; sisters Lucy and Ann; and her best neighbour Jed Gale.
A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, she leaves to mourn her husband of 60 years, Pius; daughters Kathleen (Jim) Sweetapple and Margo Gale (John Hynes); grandchildren Tyler, Alexandra, Megan, Gale, Alexander, and Brooklynn; great-grandchildren Bella, Lily, Willow, Pierce, Dominick, Matheo, Aiden, Emma, and Adalynn. She will also be dearly missed by her brother Archie MacIsaac; sisters Mary Aucoin and Florence Lobel, and a very large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Cecilia was truly a kind soul, known by all who met her for her warmth, generosity, and unwavering compassion. For over 20 years, she opened her heart and home as a foster parent, providing love and stability to children who needed it most. Alongside that, she dedicated more than 32 years to working as a home care provider, finding deep purpose in caring for others and her special clients, Mrs. Mary Gillam, Mary, Rita, and Joe. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them. A true people person, Cecilia thrived on connection and community. She never missed the seniors' dance on Sundays and looked forward to her weekly card club, where laughter and friendship filled the room. Her legacy is one of love, care, and a life lived in service to others.
The family would like to send a special thank you to Colleen St. Croix and Sharon St. Croix, her special home care workers who we were blessed to have; your kindness and compassion will be forever remembered.
