It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Catherine Osmond announces her peaceful passing, surrounded by the love of her family, at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques, NL, on Monday, October 26th, 2026, at the age of 80 years. Born in Port aux Basques, NL, on March 12th, 1946, Catherine was the daughter of the late Dorcas and Stanley Lomond

Catherine was predeceased by her beloved husband, Ralph Osmond; her parents-in-law, Theresa and Emanuel, her brothers, Wilfred, Samuel, and Calvin; her infant sister, Cora; and her sisters, Shirley (Harold) and Jane; brother in law, Tom.

Leaving to mourn are her loving children, Terrence (Trudy), Juanita (Dennis), and Denise (Glenn); her cherished grandchildren, Jerome, Catherine, Christena, Kayla, Theresa, and Levi (Caesar); and her treasured great-grandchildren, Cohen and Eileen, Aunt Susie Matthews, and brother in law George Lillington and sisters in law Elizabeth Lomond and Elaine Foote Lomond.

Catherine will also be lovingly remembered by her sisters, Julie and Susie (Jerry); her brother, Andrew (Debbie); her longtime and dear friend, Maisie; and her much-loved fur grand baby, Milo, along with a large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family, Kim Carter, and friends.

Holding a very special place in Catherine's life was her loving partner, Fred Carter, who truly was her heart and soul. Fred brought a renewed spark of happiness into Catherine's life, filling her days with love, laughter, companionship, and care. He was devoted to her in every way, always making sure she was loved, comfortable, and looked after.

Catherine was a woman who knew how to enjoy life's simple pleasures. Music was always close to her heart, and she loved nothing more than picking up her accordion or guitar and filling a room with a tune. She also loved to dance, and wherever there was music, she was never far from the fun. She enjoyed a good glass of wine, and in her later years, even when she switched to the non-alcoholic kind, the enjoyment and tradition remained just the same.

In years gone by, Catherine also enjoyed camping and getting out and about. Her family would often laugh and joke that her favorite campground was probably a Walmart parking lot, where she could sit back, watch everyone coming and going, and take in all the activity around her! It was one of those little things that made her who she was, and a memory that will surely continue to bring smiles and laughter to those who loved her.

The family would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to her four wonderful home care workers, Bonnie, Joanne, Geraldine, and Genine, for the kindness, compassion, dedication, and loving care they provided. Your presence in Catherine's life meant so much, and the family will always be grateful for the comfort and care you gave her, and thank you to the doctors and nurses at the hospital for their compassion and exceptional care.

In keeping with Catherine’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Family and friends are welcome to visit on Friday, October 30th, 2026 from 11AM- 12PM at East Haven Funeral Home Inc. 57 Grand Bay Road, Port aux Basques, NL. Interment to follow at a later date. Flowers are graciously accepted and donations in Catherine’s memory may be made to charity of choice.
