Obituary

With heavy hearts, the family of Catherine Hogan announce her peaceful passing at Port Aux Basques on November 19, 2022. Mom was born in Lamaline, NL to Muriel (Coates) and Henry Dolomount. Henry was a teacher and the family moved to several communities around the island before settling in Port aux Basques. She grew up here, taught school, married and had 4 daughters. She lived her life with a spring in her step and a song or a hum on her lips no matter what life threw at her. Her positivity and love will always be in our hearts. She was stubborn to the end; she tried her best and she was gentle in her expectations of us. She will be missed every day.

She was talkative, friendly, silly and determined. She loved to talk with all her friends, family and even strangers – who were never strangers for long. She loved her granddaughters, Mary Louise Chabot and Annie Chabot. She recently saw her 2 great granddaughters, Jane and Nora Fournier. Watching her sing "You are my Sunshine" to little Nora will always be a good memory of recent days. Her daughters, Gail, Lorna, Rhonda and Kelly were her anchors and true loves. Her 2 sons in law, Denis Chabot and David Hickey were wonderful and important to her.

Mom's sister, Margaret Davis, and brother-in-law, David Davis were her closest people; she loved them and appreciated everything they did with her. Leila Dolomount was a special sister-in-law to Mom; they enjoyed many long chats. She enjoyed keeping in touch and spending time with all her nieces and nephews. She had many friends near and far and she loved to spend time with them: talking, laughing, walking, singing and sharing meals. Thank you to all for your kindness during Mom's last week.

She did it all with scrudility!

You are our sunshine Mom.
