It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Bert (Berkley) Skinner announces his passing at Victoria General Hospital in Halifax at the age of 74 years. Born in Isle aux Morts, Bert was the son of the late Joshua and Vida Skinner (nee Harvey). He is predeceased by his mother and father-in-law Clifford and Mary (Bunter) Samms; brother Joshua; brothers-in-law Lorne Samms and Solomon JR; and nephews Shane Skinner, Michael Billard, and great-niece Lyla.

Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories is his wife of 41 years, Eileen, with whom he shared more than half a lifetime together. He also leaves to mourn his beloved sons Lorne, Tyrone, and Jason (Joy); sisters Ida (Don), Winnifred (Jimmy), Sheila (Frank), Darlene (Mike), Kathleen (Junior), and Maisie; sisters-in-law Beatrice (Bill), Maggie, Wanda (Bill), Lorna (Ronald), Tina (Kerry), Elizabeth (Paul), Katie Skinner; brother-in-law Rocky (Lynn); and a large circle of nephews, nieces, extended family, and friends.

Bert was a quiet and humble man who found joy in the simple things in life. He loved tinkering with cars, always fixing or improving something just for the joy of it. A true homebody at heart, he cherished time spent with his family and the comfort of being close to home. He enjoyed his evening walks and was known for his quick pace—no one could ever quite keep up with him. His gentle spirit, steady presence, and love for those around him will be deeply missed.

Friends and family are welcome to visit East Haven Funeral Home on Thursday, October 30th at 7-9pm, and Friday, October 31st from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. Then on Saturday, November 1st, from 11 AM – 1 PM at Holy Spirit Church in Isle aux Morts, with a funeral service taking place at 2pm with Reverend Annie officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Haven Cemetery.
