With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Amelia Cavelle Taverner on November 10, 2024, at the age of 53 years. Amelia passed surrounded by love and her family at her bedside. She leaves behind her son, her pride and joy, Cody Short. She will also be dearly missed by her mother Joan (Meade) Taverner, her brother Terry (Tracey) Taverner, nieces Hayley, Danni, Harper, and a large circle of aunts, uncles, and so many friends.

Special thanks to her cousin and best friend Sherry Taverner, longtime friend Jeanette Lomond, and caregivers Jacklyn Stansbury, Marilyn Pearce, Aunt Ivy Taverner, and all friends and family who had visited. You were all an amazing support over the years, we cannot thank you all enough.

Amelia was a sweet soul whose warmth lit up the lives of everyone around her. Family and friends were her everything, but the center of her universe was undoubtedly her son Cody. As a talented hairdresser, her scissors transformed not just hair but the spirits of those who sat in her chair. Many will reminisce about the laughter and stories shared during those moments. She found joy in the simplest of pleasures, often savoring a cold glass of Pepsi or curling up with a steaming cup of tea and a cinnamon roll. Every shared moment is a beautiful testament to the joy she brought into the world.

To honor Amelia's wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at the St. John Evangelist Church in Cape Ray on Friday, November 15th, 2024, from 11 am-1 pm with service to follow, officiated by Rev. Josh Haggstrom. Interment will follow at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill.

Forever in our hearts.
