Albert James
Lomond
Nov 13, 1944 — Aug 13, 2024
Our lives were forever changed on August 13th, 2024, when we lost our beloved husband, father and poppy/pop, Albert James Lomond, at the age of 79. Born in Port aux Basques, Albert was the son of the late Jane and Walter Lomond. With many loving memories, Albert leaves behind his loving wife, of 55 years, Barbara. His children, Shane (Jeanette) Lomond, Arlene (Perry) Pearce, Amanda (Guy) LaFosse, and Mike (Lori) Lomond as well as his grandchildren who he truly adored; Alyssa, Erica, Chad, Tristen, Ayla, Adley and Maggie. As well as his brothers and a wide circle of friends.
Albert enjoyed music, especially playing the mandolin. Playing with his friends in Port-aux-Basques or his friends in Florida was his passion. Albert also enjoyed watching the early morning sunrises on the local salmon river, either fishing or just on the beach chatting with the boys.
Albert worked for the Newfoundland Telephone Company (Bell Aliant) for 31 years and retired at the age of 54, gifting him 25 years of retirement. He enjoyed winters in Florida and his summers in "the valley". He will be most remembered by his family for being a wonderful husband, inspiring father and a respected poppy/pop. Family was of utmost importance to Albert.
Many thanks to Dr. Al Nabbot, all of the nurses and staff at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre for their excellent care. It was greatly appreciated. Family and friends are welcome to visit on Thursday, August 15th, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at East Haven Funeral Home Inc., 57 Grand Bay Road. The funeral will take place on Friday August 16th, 2024 at 11 AM, at St. James Anglican Church, Port aux Basques, officiated by Rev. Jane Allen. Interment to follow at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill, TCH. In lieu of flowers, donations in Albert's memory can be made to the Wesley United Church or the St. James Anglican Church, email stjamespab@nf.aibn.com.
