Obituary

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Albert Gillam announce his peaceful passing at the Oceanside Personal Care Home, in Codroy, NL. Born in Port aux Basques, Albert was the son of the late Emmanuel and Julia B. Gillam (nee Strickland). He was also predeceased by his wife Rowena Gillam (nee Lawrence) in 2000.

Albert leaves behind, with many precious memories, his sons; Troy (Susan) and Scott (Loretta) Gillam; his grandchildren, Amber and Dakota (Kearsten); his great-granddaughter, Harper; and his sister Ruby (Harvey) Francis, plus a circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Albert was a quiet man, who always saw the best in people and didn't have a bad word to say about anyone. An electrician by trade, and an archer by heart. He loved music and playing his guitars, enjoyed spending time on the rivers salmon fishing, and above all, he loved the sport of the archery.

The family would like to send a very special thanks the Vicky and the staff of Oceanside Personal Care Home. The care and compassion that was shown to Albert was second to none. We will be forever grateful for everything you done for him.

In keeping with Albert's wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, March 26th from 2:00-4:00 PM and 7:00-9:00 PM at East Haven Funeral Home Inc., 57 Grand Bay Road. Family and friends will gather at East Haven Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 27th at 1:30 PM to proceed to a graveside service for interment, at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill, TCH, officiated by Rev. Jane Allen. Donations in Albert's memory may be made to the family.
